The Grassmarket, Edinburgh

Evidence of habitation from as far back as 2000BC has been found at the Grassmarket which since the 1500s had been Edinburgh’s primary livestock market. Apparently the street was half the length with the market at one end and horses and cattle grazing at the other end – hence the name Grassmarket. Now serving as a bustling food and entertainment quarter.
